How to choose cabinet hardware? Part I - style

We are starting our guide on the appropriate, well-thought-out choice of furniture handles. The first part is dedicated to interior style. You will learn which furniture handles suit classic style, which suit modern, and which suit Scandinavian.

The selection of furniture handles is often relegated to the last minute, and amidst the hustle and bustle of finishing or renovation work, it often ends up as a hasty decision based on current product availability. Yet, this seemingly small element can completely transform the character of a piece of furniture or even a room (in the kitchen, after all, it will appear in such large quantities that it's impossible not to notice it).

Nowadays, the choice of furniture handles is practically unlimited – if we can't find our dream product in manufacturers' offerings, someone can make it for us to order. When making a decision, it's worth paying attention to several factors: style, material and color, and finally, the type or shape of the handle.

Handles and Interior Style

First, let's consider the styling – both of the furniture and the handles themselves. The latter can be perfectly matched stylistically, or quite the opposite, break the character of the interior or furniture and provide a contrasting, eye-catching accent.

For classic interiors, metal handles with decorative forms and noble finishes will fit perfectly, but we can also break this mood with a minimalist, matte black knob.

The opposite is also true – in a modern space, an accent stylized to a previous era will be an unconventional idea.

Interiors inspired by Scandinavian or boho styles will certainly benefit from the selection of handles made from natural materials and in informal forms – for example, wooden or leather.
